So, this is the last post! I'm all ready to go, only a few more Christmas gifts to buy, and a trip down to the beach, and then to the bus station!
I'll be home soon!
I'll miss Barcelona though...last night it was beautiful and everything seemed magical, even the garbage littered in front of the Macba, the cross-dressing prostitutes on the Rambla, the graffiti everywhere, the beer vendors, aaaaaw, Barcelona!
Ok, must go get ready for the trip....you're done reading this blog!

River
"It's coming on Christmas,
they're cutting down trees,
they're putting up reindeer
and singing songs of joy and peace...
But it don't snow here
it stays pretty green...
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on"

and singing songs of joy and peace...

it stays pretty green...
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on"

Soy gitano
Hola!
Everything is happening so fast (but so slow at the same time). I got back from Andalucia the other day (Saturday night), we had such a good time! The south is really different from the north of Spain...despite the cold weather in Granada (REALLy cold...almost snowing!) we (Minos and I) visited the Alhambra, the cathedral (where we got to meet gypsy women, who tried to give us rosemary or something and read our palms!), the old arab 'hood, and stayed at a friend of Emmanuelle's. The next day we bussed to Cordoba, to visit the Mezquita.
Go figure).
So now I have two exams left (next Monday and Tuesday). I wrote my first exam yesterday (catalan) I think it went ok, I don't know, I can never tell. We have no more hot water, so I have to find a way to wash my hair without freezing. Yesterday I took a bath with water I boiled before-hand. Not very fun. Maybe I'll go to the hair dresser's and get them to wash my hair.
I'm going to go now, because my fingers are freezing and I need to do something before they fall off.
I'll be home soon, in about 10 days! I'm already preparing a box of books to mail home so I don't have to pay as much for excess baggage. Hopefully I won't have to pay AT ALL but we'll see about that...

Time to Pretend
I can't write much, I have lots to do for school...this is just a quick update!
So, finals are suddenly upon me, and I mean suddenly. I wasn't expecting it and then bam, everything is due on the same day (next Tuesday). So today I have to write a paper on Luis Cernuda and the influence exile and T.S. Eliot had on his poetry. This paper counts for 100% of my grade! ja ja ja! I also have an oral presentation in Catalan, a Practica in Catalan, a Practica in Sociolinguistics and a mini orchestra concert. All on Tuesday. And tomorrow I hand in my Geography exam, a take-home, which also counts for 100% of my grade. At least that one's done already!
It's alright though, because early Wednesday morning I'm taking the plane SOUTH! We're going to Granada for two days, then Cordoba and Sevilla. And we'll be back on Friday! It's really short, but we have to coordinate around exams and cheap tickets. But it will be super fun! I'll visit Emmanuelle's friends in Granada and get to see l'Alhambra, and all the stuff in Sevilla too! Yay!
And then, when I get back I'll be able to study "calmly" for my Catalan, Historical Linguistics and Sociolinguistics exams. Yay. I'm done exams on the 17th, so I'll have a week or so to visit all the things I never visited here (A LOT!)...I have to go see the World Press Photo exhibit, an exhibit on Chinatown here, the permanent collection at the MACBA, I also want to return to the Ethnology museum, the Sagrada Familia, maybe go see the Cathedral...and there's an interesting exhibit at the Maritime Museum..aaah! There's no time for school.
If I have time (not likely) and money (even less likely) I might go to London for a weekend, seeing as it's not THAT far...and I can stay at Saema's...we'll see.
Anyways, that's pretty much it. The Christmas lights are up and running in the city, it's really pretty but strange with palm trees and no snow. But it's definitely getting colder. Though people were having lunch outside yesterday, so it's not that cold, really.
I can't wait to be done with school (this semester AND next...). I'm off to make myself a coffee and start work on this fun fun fun paper.

I call this lighting "bordello style"...but it does
add much more ambience to the room.
add much more ambience to the room.
And is also a possible fire hazard?
Eeek the window...
churros. Miam miam. En plus, vous pouvez voir
la vue qu'on a de la salle à manger/salon.
Manu Chao (he used to go there or something...there
are videos on Youtube of him jamming there)
the day we changed time (one week ahead of
Canada I think). This bar is really small, always
full, everyone talks to each other, really cool.
between classes on Wednesday and these men
were rinsing their squid in the public showers,
and they were super happy to pose when they
noticed I was taking their picture!

A Change Is Gonna Come
It has!!! We celebrated this morning by eating churros with chocolate, coffee, and reading the newspaper. I wish I could've been in New York or Chicago last night!
Excellent news to wake up to! It feels like Christmas!
Back to watching Obama's acceptance speech and then some homework.
